Biography

Dr. Richard C. Mauer
An
Iowa native, Dr. Mauer has been head of the Mauer Eye Center for over 21 years.
He is a board-certified Ophthalmologist who graduated from the University of
Iowa College of Liberal Arts with a distinguished Bachelor of Science degree
and attended the University of Iowa College of Medicine for his medical
doctorate in 1984. In 1994, he became certified by the American Board of Eye
Surgery in Cataract/Implant Surgery, as well as a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons.
Dr. Mauer has been voted the best eye doctor in
Waterloo and Cedar Falls by the Waterloo Courier Readers Poll, Best of the
Best. He has also been given the Five Star Award by Ginnmark Services. In
addition to his awards, Dr. Mauer has been published in the American Journal of
Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmology Times, and the book Family Medicine:
Principles and Practice.
Dr. Mauer and the Mauer Eye Center have been a
staple in the Cedar Valley community, providing state-of-the-art eye care since
1990.

Amy L. Hartmann, O.D.
Biography

Dr. Amy L. Hartmann

Iowa native, Dr. Hartmann has been in the field of Optometry for over 14 years.
She is a board-certified Examiner in Optometry who graduated from the
University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts with a Bachelor of Science degree
and a major in Psychology. Dr. Hartmann also attended the Illinois College of
Optometry and obtained her doctorate degree in Optometry in 1995. Dr. Hartman
holds affiliations with the American Optometric Association, the Iowa
Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr.
Hartmann has been with Dr. Mauer and the Mauer Eye Center for almost 15 years.
She continues to offer her patients the best one-on-one care for their
individual needs. |

Larry Van Daalen, O.D.
Biography

An Iowa native, Dr. Van Daalen has been in the field of Optometry for over 20 years. He graduated from Buena Vista College with a Bachelors of Science degree. Dr. Van Daalen also attended the Illinois College of Optometry and obtained his doctorate degree in Optometry in 1987. Dr. Van Daalen holds affiliations with the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association.
Dr. Van Daalen has been very involved in the Iowa Optometric Association. In 1996 he was awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year Award, and was presented the Optometrist of the Year Award in 2006.
Megan Sullivan, O.D.
Biography
"I knew I wanted to be an optometrist since I was in high school. However, I didn't know then how gratifying this profession could be. It has allowed me to do what I love the most, interact and care for people on a daily basis. As eye health is always evolving, I get to learn something new every day and pass that knowledge along to my patients."

An Iowa native, Dr. Sullivan is a board-certified Examiner in Optometry who graduated from Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Sullivan also attended Illinois College of Optometry where she was on the Honor Society and Dean's list. She obtained her doctorate degree in Optometry in 2009. Most recently, Dr. Sullivan completed a residency at the Newington, Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs in primary care with an emphasis in ocular disease. Dr. Sullivan holds affiliations with the Iowa Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association.

Ron Roelfs, O.D.
Biography
"I have always had the desire to be in the health care profession. Through my experiences in the Army, I developed a great interest in eyecare. Fortunately, those experiences have led me to a profession that I enjoy everyday. Helping people has been a lifetime goal. "
Dr. Roelfs
An Iowa native, Dr. Roelfs has been in the field of Optometry for over 30 years. He graduated from Mankato State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Roelfs then spent two years in the U.S. Army before attending the Illinois College of Optometry and obtaining his doctorate degree in Optometry in 1980. Dr. Roelfs holds affiliations with the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association.
Dr. Roelfs served the Iowa Optometric Association as president from 1996 to 1997, and was named Optometrist of the Year in 1998.
